‘Assassination Attempt!: Alone Wolfe’ really caught me off guard. I thought I was in for a straightforward action thriller, but it’s got a lot more going on under the surface. The main character, Nick Wolfe, is a classic hard-boiled private eye – sharp-tongued, flawed, and completely relentless. He’s the kind of character you end up rooting for even when he’s being a bit too clever for his own good.
The story kicks off with a murder in New York’s Bowery and quickly snowballs into something much bigger – secret agencies, political games, and a sense that the whole country’s teetering on the edge. Fun, fun, book to read. When you start with a wedding at the White House you don't think you'll end up at the Alamo! This book sure pounds home the point that the immigration crisis raging the last 4 years has taken its toll on Texas.
Nick and Electra are impressive characters. If you love books that have heroes, this story is a great one. Please realize this story represents actual current happenings and challenges, alongside fictional resolutions. It's a little crazy and dizzying but really entertaining to be a part of.
Favorite character is General Willoughby. Reading the actual dialect of the British officer is very cool. It sure makes you slow down and appreciate the scene. Have fun reading this book.

Absolutely loved this book. The main character reminded me of Mike Hammer and Dirty Harry with a little bit of Cary Grant’s wit, a guy who always gets the job done, one way or another. The story had me from page one and just when l’d get to a stopping point, there’d be another twist and I’d be sucked in once more. I’m really hoping for a sequel as the latter part of the book felt like it could definitely be expanded into one. Fingers crossed…
